Vet Check at OVEC FEI Show

The sun was not yet up over the treetops, when the Boss arrived at the parking area, where those expensive horses were still stored away in their trailers. He quietly saddled Pernod to take a short ride through the event side. The air was mild and there were some birds singing in the trees so loud, that there was no doubt that it would be a short night for those, who had to stay with the trailers and horses. One person crawled out of the tent, grumpy looking and cursing those animals for interrupting a pleasant dream.
More and more staff members of various stables got out of their caravans or arrived with their cars and when the Boss returned there was a note on the DLS Trailer telling him to report to the veterinaries for a check on the DLS horses. Mikaela offered to go, but the Boss just waved his hand, took Tiberia by the halter and walked the short way over to the vet station. He was very positively surprised to find Damon Rodriguez there, who was one of the few reasonable staff members of the infamous Royal Pirate stables and seemed very content despite the early hour. He held one of the few horses, that would tempt the Boss to use the term “outstanding” and that was not only because of the name. The owner of Dark Lake Stables tied Tiberia loosely to a fence and called one of the vets, while he went to greet Damon Rodriguez.
“Another one who thinks he might have a chance with some classic horse against those highstrung warmbloods?” The Boss said and pointed towards Bruck an der Mur, who was fiercely chewing on his bit, pretty clearly pissed by the vet who was touching his legs. “These two won’t strample half has expressive as the horses need to nowadays.”
"Well I believe that classic dressage without the spanish circus effect is so damn forgotten that it could impress once again" he answered, trying to avoid that his stallion eats the vet’s cap.
The Boss tilted his head and laughed. “Oh that could work and it really gives me some hope back again to place better than one or two of those 14 year old girls on their 4 year old Grand Prix Horses. But I think we should put some feather extensions on the horses…”
“I doubt I want to see their training. But the feather extension is one glorious idea, maybe it would raise the chance to get attention for talented Dressage horses with flowy and harmonical movements against the Kan Kan dancers in the Dressage circles.”
Looking at a young blond woman prancing along by stabbing the spurs into the flanks of her horse and dragging its head down until it starts to jump up and down in the trot the Boss nodded and sighed. “Wow… what a FORWARD motion…You know that horse over there used to have pretty nobody bloodlines, but pretty decent gaits. Saw it at an auction when it was 4 years old. Nice horse, nice character. I guess that’s why they take them. That horse endures whatever they are training him with and he still tries to impress his stupid rider. Plus… they win. They always do.”
Pirate nodded and tried to keep his horse's head once again close to his neck "...I was maaajorly disappointed by the Dressage Grand Prix at Rainbow Fountains. Of course i was partly proud that Hungary brought home gold with their Girdán Àlomszép, but the weak results for our Brisk Brigand Filly made me believe decent, classic Dressage is loosing appreciation."
The Boss raised an eyebrow. “Yes, I saw that, too. Very disappointing indeed. A really lovely horse you have there, by the way. Even though I am not really a fan of those special colours, I have to admit that Briganty is very well put together. The rider as well, really…” He seemed to think a minute before he added. “really talented young lady.”

"Oh Miss Merrino, talented indeed, though she was highly interested in your professional dressage course back then, but was busy with training our youngsters." as the vet began to be uncomfy for Bruck an der Mur he was about to rip off the vet's arm , for that Pirate pulled on his reins and mumbled something to him quickly. "Excuse me, but would you accept an invitation to RPS, if i ensure no-unwanted-person would disturb your stay while your on hungarian grounds. There are so interesting topics we could talk about during some tea-afternoon without disruptive Effects" he nodded in direction of the vet "You could take a look at our fancy coloured warmblood too, maybe you like her even more in person, same counts for the talented rider."
“It seems that the life of the Vet is on the line here, so I can’t do anything else than agree.” The Boss grinned as the Vet took a dive to get away from Bruck an der Mur. “My office will call.” Then he took a sheet of paper out of his pocket. “Even though I deeply trust into the magic of the feather extensions, I think I should rehearse that Kür again.”
