Back at DLS BPM stood in the stall, leaning her face against the wall. The world was somehow growing hazy around her. She felt dizzy and unreal and refused to eat. Breathing was going harder and by night the coughing was back.
The Vet was concerned and "prescribed" that the horse should inhale thyme vapour to cure her lungs. She laid down to sleep, but on the sixth day, she couldn't find the will to get up anymore.

"I love these otherworldy horses..." the Boss said and shook his head as he and the vet looked after BPM again. "But they just THINK too much. BPM is even more than human if it comes to hurt pride."
The vet couldn't see it like this, the mare always had self-destructive tendencies, which she worked off on the track and those were now turning against her. The Boss and Alex decided to keep her alive with infusions, but it couldn't be more than a temporary solution...
